Circuit in southern Tunisia by 4×4, from Tataouine ksours , to Douz and Tozeur oasis.
Day 1 Sunday : DJERBA
Reception of the participants at Djerba airport, transfer and check-in at boutique hotel or 3* hotel (half board formula) in Djerba.
Day 2 Monday : DJERBA – TATAOUINE
Early departure, we leave Djerba island by the Roman roadway, toward Medenine (coffee break). We continue our trip toward Guermassa, considered as one of the most tremendous peak villages in the Tunisian southeast ; the ancient citadel groups an archeological World Heritage complex. Continuation towards Chenini. The village climbs along a cliff, reaching the ruins of a Ksar, at the top. Up there, the view is breathtaking! Visit of semi-troglodyte houses with a local guide.

After the traditional tea, departure to visit Ksar Ouled Soltane which ranks among the most remarkable ksours in Tunisia. Its special feature is the second yard from the 19th century, extending the first from the 15th century. Then we head toward Ksar Jelidat, to admire a set of perfectly conserved fortified granaries, and ride back to Tataouine.
Dinner and night at a troglodyte gite perfectly suited to the environment.
Day 3 Tuesday : TATAOUINE
After breakfast, we take the road to Ghomrassen and to the rock paintings of Aïn Sefri Caves. Break and free time in Tataouine to taste and purchase the region’s pastry specialty: “gazelle horns”. Break at the base of the cliff to take photos at Sidi Arfa Marabout landmark; the marabou sits atop a cliff overlooking the city of its height.
Return to « Tataouine-les-bains » for a walk in the local market.
Lunch at the hotel, and visit of the Earth Memory Museum which demonstrates the presence of many dinosaurs in the region during the Mesozoic era. Visit of a traditional craft village. Then we follow the trail that climbs to the city heights, to discover part of the former French military prison, closed in 1938.
Dinner and night at your troglodyte house.
Day 4 Wednesday : TATAOUINE – KSAR GHILANE – DOUZ
After breakfast, we take the trail leading to Ksar Ghilane ; photo break at the monument celebrating Leclerc’s Column. Free time to enjoy the warm water spring, a camel ride or a quad ride to the Roman Fort. Lunch on the spot. We resume our trip toward Douz via Ksar Tarcine. Dinner and night at your 4* hotel.
Day 5 Thursday : DOUZ – TOZEUR
Early in the morning, visit of Douz livestock market. About 10 am, back into the 4 x 4, for a ride across Nouaïl, Blidet, Telmine and photo break at Chott el Djerid salt lake. Continuation to Nefta. Lunch on the spot. Walk along the oasis valley named “Corbeille de Nefta” (The Nefta basket), and on the path « Ras el Aïn ». We then head toward Tozeur for a visit of Eden Palm (Palm tree museum). Ride back to the hotel in carriage through the oasis. Dinner and night at your 4* hotel.
Day 6 Friday : TOZEUR – MOUNTAIN OASES – TOZEUR
The 4 x 4 tour heads toward the town of Metlaoui, where we board into the famous train “The Red Lizard”, for a journey across the canyons of Selja. Then we resume our 4 x 4 tour for a visit of the mountain oases : Midès, Tamerza (lunch – photo break of the waterfalls) and Chebika. Return to Tozeur to visit a traditional brickyard and walk in the ancient medina. Dinner and night at your 4* hotel.
Day 7 Saturday : TOZEUR – MATMATA – DJERBA
Ride across Chott el Djerid salt lake to the warm water springs of Kebili. Continuation of the trip via Douz, Tamezret (Photo break) and to Matmata. Lunch. Visit of a troglodyte house. Ride across Toujane (Photo break), return to Djerba island by ferry. Dinner and night at boutique hotel or 3* hotel (half board formula) in Djerba.
Day 8 Sunday : Departure from DJERBA
Free time for lunch. Transfer to the airport and assistance with departure formalities.
