Tunisia and Amazigh identity
This congress is the opportunity for the Amazigh (or as most of the world call them, for the Berber people) to unite their voices and defend their language and their culture. For its sixth edition, the congress took place in Djerba from September 30th till October 2nd, 2011.
The congress participants came from Tunisia, Canary Islands, Morocco, Algeria, Libya and their Diaspora, especially European. Most did not see each other since the previous congress in Meknès in 2008. Since its creation in 1995, in France, the congress keeps very strong links with France.
The congress also elected its new president: The Libyan Mr. Fethi Benkhlifa. He lived in exile about twenty years (Morocco and Netherlands) and he is currently adviser to the new Minister of Justice.
The Berber villages of South Tunisia can be discovered during our excursions, either during the Berber villages sightseeing tour – one day or during the Berber journey – 2 days, a more comprehensive tour of Amazigh culture in South of Tunisia.
The next congress should take place in july 2015 in Marocco.
