Special 4×4 – The Berber Trail

Discovery of the Berber architecture and its role in semi-desert areas.

Day 1 : DJERBA

Reception of the participants at Djerba airport, transfer and check-in at your 3* hotel or boutique hotel (half board formula).

Day 2 : DJERBA – MATMATA – BENI KHEDACHE

Departure in 4×4 and off Djerba island by ferry. Visit of Mareth military museum about World War II. Our trip continues toward the Berber villages of Toujane (overhang by the ruins of a ksar, the village is made of dry stone houses, the numerous terraces of which offer a breathtaking view on the plain, which stretches towards the sea), Tamezret, and visit of a troglodyte house in Matmata. Lunch. Continuation towards Beni Khedache by Ksar Hallouf, Ksar Zammour, the mountain Mzenzen. Dinner and night at the inhabitant’s houses.

Day 3 : BENI KHEDACHE –  BERBER VILLAGES

After breakfast, continuation for the visit of Guermessa considered as one of the most tremendous peak villages in the Tunisian southeast ; the ancient citadel groups an archeological World Heritage complex. Lunch.
Continuation towards the berber village of Chenini. Visit of semi-troglodyte houses and the “graves of Seven Sleepers” landmark. Road to Douiret. Dinner and on-the-spot night.

Day 4 : DOUIRET – KSOURS – DJERBA

Departure, after breakfast, to visit Ksar Ouled Soltane and Ksar Ezzara. Break and free time in Tataouine, possible purchase of the region’s pastry specialty: “gazelle horns”. On-the-spot lunch. Return to Djerba by the Roman roadway with a stop at Neffatia. Check- in at your 3* hotel (half-board formula) .

Days 5 – 6 – 7 : DJERBA

Stay at your three-star hotel (full board formula).

Day 8 : Departure from DJERBA

Free time for lunch. Transfer at the airport and assistance with departure formalities.
