Departure from your hotel in Tunis or Hammamet at 7:00 am to go to Kairouan, the first holy city of the Maghreb. Kairouan played a major role in arabization of the Berber and Latin populations of Ifriqiya.
You will discover the « Great Mosque », with its minaret of 3 floors, the last of sheltered by a dome. After a stroll between the ramparts of the medina, the tour of Kairouan will continue by the visit of the Zaouïa of Sidi Sahbi, a friend of the Prophet Mahomet who, according to a legend, would keep 3 beard hairs of Prophet. That’s why the edifice is generally named “mosque of the Barber”. The Aghlabids ponds, constructed in the IX th century , collected overflow water of the wadi Merguellil to supply the city with water.
Continuation to Sfax for the lunch then, exploration of the old medina. Syphax, the berber town, was rebuilt in the IX th century by arab invaders under the Aghlabides dynasty.
Your wandering in the small alleys inside the city walls will guided you in the labyrinth with 6 doors, from stalls of pedlar, to colorful stores and workshops. In the XVII th century, the house Dar Jellouli is built by andalusian refugee coming from Spain and bought by Farhat Djellouli, a leader in Sfax. Art center since 1939, it’s transformed into a regional
museum of arts and popular traditions.
In the evening, after about 60 minutes ferry crossing, you will get to the Kerkennah islands.

On the morning of the second day, you will discover Chergui island. From roman archaeological site to Spanish fort, from rocky coast to sandy beaches, from maritime atmosphere to agricultural landscapes, you will travel the length and breadth of the most important island of Kerkennah.
Shellfish specialities will be on the menu for the lunch.
During the boat excursion, all afternoon, you will look at the scenes of everyday life, like that of fisherman, between cloud shadows and mirror of waves, until the sunset.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Other visits will wait you on your way which crosses all Gharbi island, to go to the Sidi Youssef port, where with the Ferry you could join the continent.
Lunch in Sfax and then, direction Tunis.
Ancient phoenician city, established by Punics, El Jem is now famous for its amphitheater and its roman villas. The visit of this monument could allow you to have a break in your return itinerary to the tunisian capital.
