Djerba : 6th World Conference on Tourism

 

The 6th international conference on the management of touristic destinations will be held on April 16th and 17th 2012, on Djerba Island in Tunisia. The conference adresses the topic of ” the future of tourism in the Mediterranean Sea “, particularly regarding the competition from countries of Southeast Asia.

 

The conference, organized by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), in partnership with the Tunisian ministry of tourism, announces the participation of more than 400 international experts coming from about forty countries, as well as several ministers from both shores of the Mediterranean. The participants are going to discuss ongoing challenges and opportunities in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the Mediterranean touristic destinations.

 

The World Tourism Organization (WTO) is going to organize on April 18th, an international workshop on the following theme : “A strategic approach of renovation for Djerba “. During this meeting, they will analyze its international touristic market position, its strengths and weaknesses and the efficiency of its investment in order to make a diagnosis of the island tourism. The question of sustainable development and of guidelines that could be implemented to improve the quality of the destination, is also scheduled. Finally, they will debate the issue of developing innovation and niche products .
